Our youth program has proven to be very popular with most players attending wanting to put an end to their frustrations with:
- Losing game time due to pains and injuries
- Improving their speed, strength and power on the pitch
- Confidence due to the changes during their growth spurt
The program has operated for the last 2 years and received excellent feedback from over 50 NPL1, NPL2 and Association players (and parents!)
A strong focus on the 3 Youth Athlete Teaching Principles below is how we have successfully solved these issues:
Teaching players how to manage their own body on and off the pitch gives them the opportunity to have the freedom to make their own choices regarding how they want to perform. Experiencing both the positive and negative consequences of every choice THEY make first hand, it really accelerates the learning curve.
When youth players see their body changing and performance improving from training it enables them to feel very confident about their bodies during a time when their growth spurt is causing havoc with how they feel and move!
Movement quality is the priority of all our sessions. This is an area which we develop to set players up to have a healthy, athletic body well beyond their football career.
What Does a Session Include?
All of our sessions follow the format of:
- Warm Up and Mobility
- Balance and Co-Ordination
- Jumping and Landing
- Speed and Change of Direction Movement Skills
- 90 Minute Skill Challenges
When and Where?
Our sessions currently run from 4.15pm – 5.15pm on Moon-Thu at our 90 Minutes gym in Sydenham.
We run our 10-week programs alongside the school term dates.
Players can register to train either 1 day per week or 2 days per week.
